Jobitech and the Global Green TVET Program
Jobitech (Don Bosco Institute of Technology) is a forward-thinking institution committed to shaping skilled, responsible, and environmentally conscious youth. Located in a dynamic and growing community, Jobitech equips students with technical and vocational skills that empower them to contribute positively to the world.
As part of its mission to promote sustainability, Jobitech proudly participates in the Green Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Green TVET) global program.
Our Green Initiatives
Global Green TVET Program
The Global Program (GP) is designed to strengthen the Salesian TVET initiative in the Africa-Madagascar region with five main pillars: capacity building, modernization, JSO, Green TVET and networking.
The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry (BMZ) through Don Bosco Mondo, Germany, and coordinated by Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA). Beneficiary countries include Nigeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, DRC, Madagascar, Malawi, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
Through this program, Jobitech has been able to implement modern teaching methods, establish a Job Service Office (JSO) to connect graduates with employment opportunities, and integrate green technologies into our curriculum.
Green Club Activities
Our student-led Green Club promotes hands-on learning through tree planting, clean-up drives, plastic reduction campaigns, upcycling workshops, and energy conservation activities.
The Green Club meets weekly to plan and implement environmental initiatives both on campus and in the local community. Some of our ongoing projects include:
- Campus recycling program that processes paper, plastic, and metal waste
- Organic vegetable garden that supplies our cafeteria
- Solar panel installation training program
- Biogas production from food waste
- Environmental awareness campaigns in local schools
Students who participate in the Green Club gain practical experience in sustainability while earning certificates that enhance their employability.
Green schoolCulture
We foster sustainability through waste minimization, energy efficiency, composting, recycling, and integrating green projects into technical skills training.
Our school has implemented numerous green initiatives including:
- Solar-powered lighting throughout the campus
- Rainwater harvesting system for irrigation
- Composting of all organic waste from the cafeteria
- Paperless administration where possible
- Energy-efficient appliances and equipment
- Green roofs on several buildings
All technical programs now include green components. For example:
- Electrical students learn solar panel installation
- Construction students work with sustainable materials
- Agriculture students practice organic farming
- ICT students develop apps for environmental monitoring
Tips to Take Care of the Environment
